Traumzauber

November 2019

Project responsibilities:

- Design

- Build management

- Carpentry

- Weaving

The lovely Abro Team who are largely behind organising Moyn Moyn festival invited me out to their new residence in the countryside near Hannover. The mission was to help design and build a road worthy Gypsy waggon and weave Traumzauber Baum (Magic Dream Tree) as a centre piece for their new Christmas market along side art director Rojin Szabo and Head scenic Kiara Watermeyer and to then go on to tour a new area at Fusion and Moyn Moyn.

These were both incredibly interesting projects for me, great to be able to spend the time and take the care on designing and building the Waggon to handle long distance journeys and last for years to come. I also really enjoyed incorporating an old cabinet to make some bay windows at the front and four-way stable doors at the back as well as installing some beautiful old windows on the sides.

It was brilliant to have the opportunity to finally use Willow to weave and start understanding the the capabilities it provides! I also enjoyed experimenting with the idea of having a segmented metal subframe to weave over to make the sculpture transportable (all thanks and praise to Vlad the welding machine pulling all nighters to make it happen.)
